Senior Android Engineer
- On-site, Remote, Hybrid
- Vienna, Wien, Austria
Job description
Build the App That Helps People Find Their Words Again.
Patients rely on our Android app in clinics and at home to practice speech, language, and cognitive therapy. When it's fast, stable, and polished, therapists can stay focused on care — and patients can stay focused on progress. By using the latest technologies & AI tools, we give patients real support to recover — and that's where you come in.
You'll turn therapy concepts into clean, responsive interactions, keep performance solid across older clinic tablets and modern phones, and help bring ML-powered feedback into the product in a way that feels instant and trustworthy.
It's meaningful work, with patients & clinicians who depend on it. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, let's talk.
What you’ll work on
Therapy experience: Build and iterate on interactive therapy modules (speech exercises, cognitive tasks, multimedia flows) that people use every day
Real-time feedback: Work with our ML team to integrate features like speech feedback and make them feel fast, accurate, and unobtrusive
Performance in the real world: Keep the app reliable across older clinic tablets and modern phones — startup time, memory, jank, offline, the whole thing
Product craft: Partner with Product and Design to ship accessible UI with strong attention to detail
Engineering quality: Write clean, testable Kotlin Code and raise the bar on reviews, testing, and maintainability
Job requirements
What sets you up for success
Must-haves
Android expertise: 5+ years of professional Android development with Kotlin
Education: HTL/Bachelor/Master’s degree or comparable hands-on experience in computer science or a related field
Modern Android stack: Strong experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Hilt/Dagger, and MVVM/MVI architecture
AI-native workflow: Comfortable using AI tooling (Codex/Cursor/Claude Code etc.) in daily work as a productivity multiplier
Quality-focused: Strong grasp of modern Android UI/UX and quality-focused engineering.
Software Development Lifecycle: Experience with common engineering practices: Git, code reviews, architecture patterns, maintainable code.
Ownership: Ability to work independently and take ownership.
Collaboration: Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and backend teams
Nice to have
Firebase & APIs: Experience with Firebase / NoSQL databases, cloud functions, and API-heavy apps.
Multi-agent fluency: You're comfortable orchestrating multiple AI agents, chaining prompts, and building workflows where AI handles the heavy lifting while you steer the outcome.
Tooling mindset: You actively shape your own dev environment to remove friction from your workflow.
Performance tuning: Strong performance profiling/tuning experience across diverse devices.
Offline-first patterns: Experience with offline-first architectures, syncing strategies, local persistence.
Beyond your CV
Craft-oriented: You care about smooth animations, responsive UIs, and delightful details — even in a clinical context
Empathetic builder: You think about the end user — a patient recovering from a stroke, or a therapist managing 20 patients — and let that guide your decisions
Pragmatic problem-solver: You find the right balance between ideal architecture and shipping value fast
Team player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy sharing knowledge
